Fraternity member’s lawyer disputes report

The attorney for a Clemson fraternity member says media reports are not true that his client shined a flashlight into the dark waters of Lake Hartwell, looking for Tucker Hipps but no one tried to make a rescue.  Attorney Larry Brandt issued a brief on the record statement today to 101.7/WGOG on behalf of his client, Thomas Carter King, who was a fraternity brother of the late Tucker Hipps.  Brandt said, “They have no witness who says he (Hipps) fell, grabbed the railing, and fell onto rocks and no witnesses who says (Thomas) King shined lights. They have made up facts,” Brandt said.  Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said today he personally interviewed a witness mentioned in media reports today, but “the information that has been obtained by law enforcement does not warrant any criminal charges being filed at this time.”
