Free nicotine gum and patches

South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is making available free nicotine replacement therapy for smokers who do not have health insurance. DHEC’s Sharon Biggers says tobacco users who want to kick the habit in 2015 can call the S.C. Tobacco Quitline at 1-800/QUIT NOW (1-800/784-8669.) The quitline is open from 8 a-m to 3 a-m daily. An estimated 759 thousand South Carolinians smoke cigarettes and the use of tobacco remains the leading preventable cause of death in the state.
