Friendly reminder on the way from county government

As many as 74 thousand Oconee County tax bills are to be placed in the U-S mail in two weeks. A delay in receiving a revised assessment covering Duke Energy, Oconee’s largest taxpayer, accounts for a two-week delay in mailing the 2014 bills, according to County Auditor Ken Nix. The bills hit the mail on Thursday and Friday, October 9 and 10 and are payable to the County Treasurer’s Office, although they may be paid without penalty as late as January. Once again, Oconee’s bills covering homes, boats, motors, and business properties are being printed by Lazer Print Plus of Columbia.
