Furman’s Early Grabs SoCon, National Accolades

Furman placekicker Ray Early

Furman punter/placekicker Ray Early has been named Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and College Football Performance Awards National Punter Of The Week for his outstanding work in the Paladins’ 20-17 loss to Wofford on Saturday in Spartanburg.  Early, a 6-foot, 184-pound junior, averaged a career best 57.3 yards on three punts, all of which were downed inside the Wofford 20-yard line, including two at the Wofford 3. Midway through the third quarter, he unleashed a career long 82-yard punt — the second longest in kick Furman history and fourth best in SoCon history.
