Gamecocks return to top ten in latest BCS poll; Tigers climb to 13th

The Tigers and the Gamecocks both climbed in the latest college football polls released on Sunday.  Clemson, coming off a decisive 42-13 win at Wake Forest on Thursday, climbed to number 9 in the coaches poll and number 10 in the AP poll.  South Carolina, who defeated Tennessee 38-35 on Saturday, moved up to number 11 in both polls.  However, in the all-important BCS poll released Sunday night, the Gamecocks climbed back into the top 10, moving from number 13 to number 8, while Clemson moved to number 13 from their previous ranking of 18.  The Gamecocks are just ahead of Louisville and Florida State in the top ten.  The Gamecocks two losses this season have come against teams that are ranked above them in the BCS standings.  One is Florida at number 7, the other is LSU at number 5.  Georgia, who stunned Florida on Saturday in Jacksonville, is number 6.  Oregon leads off the top 4, with Notre Dame at number 3, Kansas State at number 2, and Alabama at number 1.  The top 4 are all unbeaten and none of them face each other in the remainder of the regular season.  Five of the top ten BCS teams are from the Southeastern Conference.
