Gauging interest in the former Oakway school

Before Oconee County would acquire the former Oakway school, a council committee would like to see firm commitments from those interested in using parts of the building and the grounds.  There has been a variety of interest already expressed but, so far, County Administator Scott Moulder said he has received no specific requests.  Moulder last night gave members of the county’s Real Estate, Facilities and Land Management Committee sketch and potential floor plan for the former Oakway Intermediate School.  Councilman Wayne McCall said he is aware of interest by the Sheriff’s Office in using part of the building for a satellite office and there is interest by others to use part of the complex for agricultural community purposes.  District One’s Edda Cammick, committee chairwoman, asked Moulder to gauge whether Fair Play and Westminster recreation officials are interested for their purposes.
