GCCP sewer line awarded

An Oconee County Council of one mind last night when it came to a project that, for years, has been nearly talked and argued to death. The council awarded the Golden Corner Commerce Park sewer project to a Columbia area firm, and County Administrator Scott Moulder indicated he’ll issue a notice to proceed as early as today. The action was greeted by audience applause. A moment of levity occurred when at Moulder’s request, the five-member council put on hard hats that read “Golden Corner.” Little Mountain’s D-S Utilities gets the job for $7.2 million. Council Chairman Joel Thrift quoted the contractor as saying that as many as 22 local residents can expect jobs in the project to lay 10 and 12-inch line between Golden Corner and the county treatment plant at Seneca.
