George Allgood was part of the WGOG family

A memorial service for George Allgood of Walhalla takes place at 11 Wednesday morning at New Hope Baptist Church. The family receives friends after the service. George, who died Saturday, was retired, after having worked as vice president and station manager for WSNW and formerly with WGOG. Here, at WGOG, he filled nearly every role imaginable—from announcer to news director to program director and more. And, for decades, he, along with Marvin Hill and Jerry Dyar, formed a trio of, perhaps, the most popular announcers in the history of Oconee County radio. George Allgood was 71.
