Georgia man charged with crime in rural Oconee

 

Copeland Lee VaughnA Lavonia, Georgia man is accused of victimizing a Toccoa, Georgia man on a rural road in the Westminster area of Oconee County.  Law enforcement records show Copeland Lee Vaughn (left) was arrested and charged with carjacking on the Rich Mountain Road.  Sgt. Kevin Cain of the Oconee Sheriff’s Office signed an arrest affidavit that alleges the 22-year old Vaughn by force and violence took possession of a 2014 Nissan Sentra from Andrew Brent Fuller July 30. Vaughn was arrested yesterday.  An Oconee deputy learned that Fuller had driven to the Rich Mountain Road to pick up another man whose car ran out of gas.  But there Fuller was ordered out of the car and, according to the deputy sheriff, a gun was produced and Fuller was held down.  He later went to a nearby house to ask for help. Fuller’s car was later found next to a business in Westminster. The charge of carjacking is a felony that carries a potential penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
