Golden Corner could see more snow than expected

The latest forecast model indicates Oconee and Pickens Counties and other areas north of Interstate 85 may receive more snow than originally predicated, according to WGOG’s Kris Butts. The current forecast now calls for anywhere from 1-2 inches of snow for our area. The system is proving difficult to predict and there remains a lot of uncertainty as to who will receive significant accumulations. South of the interstate could see anywhere from 2-4 inches, including Anderson County. The midlands and lowcountry are still expected to receive the brunt of the storm. The new forecast has resulted in the early dismissal of Oconee Public Schools. Elementary students will dismiss at 1:00 PM, with middle and high school students to follow suit at 1:15 PM. The snow is expected to fall around the area later this afternoon.
