Governor signs S. 1258

State Senator Thomas Alexander and the Department of Transportation are calling attention to Governor Haley’s signing a bill designed to get moving toward repairing the state’s crumbling roads and bridges.  According to the DOT, it means that planning and development of several projects and needed repairs which have been deferred for lack of funding can now move ahead. But the DOT adds this:  “While S. 1258 is a good first step on highway funding, it is not a long-term or complete solution for addressing the infrastructure needs of South Carolina.  The state is at a critical point where additional and rapid growth is putting extreme demands on a transportation system that is far from being in good condition.”
