Grant for CU coastal project

An Economic Development Administration grant will help Clemson University help build a new graduate center at North Charleston. The announcement by acting U-S Commerce Secretary Rbecca Blank said the grant amounts to $2 million and is to support students and create jobs at Clemson’s planned university restoration institute. When it opens, Clemson’s new graduate center will house a business incubator and shared lab space, furthering work in such areas as renewable energy. South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn said, “Funding under the ‘American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’ established North Charleston as a hub for wind and energy production and this EDA grant will expand that initial investment….”
