Groups that want to share in the latest cycle of Oconee County accommodations tax money are running up on a deadline. Their requests must be submitted at the county’s High Falls Park by 2 p-m Friday, February 14. All applications are to be reviewed by the Parks, Recreation and Tourism commissioners during a February 20 meeting and votes are to be taken a week later, February 27. The two meetings begin at the noon hour at the Oconee Heritage Center, and all applicants are invited to be present and be ready to answer questions about their requests. Projects eligible for funding are those that pay for visitor center, for tourism advertising and promotion; the promotion of arts and cultural events to attract tourists, and facilities for civic and cultural events.
