“Greatest Snowman in the Land”

Oconee Emergency Services is hosting the “Greatest Snowman in the Land” contest. It’s an effort to promote fire safety and to urge Oconeeans to stay at home and off the roads during this weather. According to Charlie King, county fire chief, “We want residents to send us pictures of their family’s snowman.” Submissions will be judged on sheer size and creativity. The winning family gets a fire prevention and safety kit for the home. The kit includes smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, a fire extinguisher, assorted children’s materials and t-shirts. You must be a resident of Oconee to enter. Submit your photo to the Oconee Emergency Services facebook page or email to [email protected]. The submission must include a photo, street address and contact information. The deadline is 5 p-m tomorrow.
