Group works to mark historic W-O District homes

Brass plaques are available to identify historic houses in the West-Oak District. It’s a current project of the seven-year old Westminster Area Historic Preservation Society. So far, 15 plaques have arrived. “They are beautiful,” says Mildred Spearman of the WAHPS. To qualify for a plaque, the house must have been built before 1930. The Historic Preservation Society is showcasing two of the homes purchased by young families who are dedicated to restoring them to their original brilliance. They are the 100 Augusta Street home of R-T and Stephanie Harris and the 305 W. Abbey Street Victorian home that Les and Brooke McCall are restoring. There is a fee involved.
