Hanvey determines the numbers don’t add up

An Oconee School District administrator says a decision by the county to cut out an economic development office at the planned Workforce Development Center has prompted new language in a memorandum of understanding among the parties involved.  And Steve Hanvey indicates a juggling of project design cost numbers will be required.  County Administrator Scott Moulder recently told the county council that, after further consideration, a county economic development office in a rural location of the county would not be the best choice.  As explained by Hanvey to the county trustees, the change amounts to a total of $66 thousand dollars that the county won’t pay for design work at a complex that is to include a new school district career center and a satellite campus of Tri-County Technical College.  Hanvey last night sought board approval to allow him and Dr. Michael Thorsland, district superintendent, to work out the difference with Tech.
