Hartwell native search for missing airliner

A naval flight officer from Hartwell, Georgia was among the early searchers for the still missing Malaysia Airlines flight in the southern Indian Ocean. Lt. Joshua Mize, who graduated from Hart County High School in 1998, serves with Patrol Squadron Sixteen, known as the “War Eagles.” He and his fellow sailors aboard the P-8A Poseidon are varied. About 60 officers, 200 enlisted men and women are responsible for maintaining aircraft airframes and engines, processing paperwork, handling weaponry, and flying the aircraft.
