Head-on I-85 crash narrowly averted

A noon hour car accident on I-85 in Oconee County barely missed a head-on accident that responders believe would have been a catastrophe. Northbound traffic backed up from the 1.5 mile marker as far as Georgia while a car was removed. That car, headed southbound, ended up in the median after it cleared safety wires and spun into the inside northbound lane. The driver was unhurt. South Carolina highway patrol investigated.
