Helicopter flew ill patient

December 23, 2013

On Friday Fair Play Fire Department members assisted Oconee Medical Center paramedics and a flight crew to load a patient onto a medical helicopter. The highway 182 landing zone near Feltman Road was chosen because of the proximity to the patient’s home. For sick and injured patients, this is often the fastest way to transport patients to hospitals that can best handle their needs. Pre-designated landing zones are strategically located across Oconee County. And their latitudes and longitudes are known so they can be given to the responding helicopter.
