Walhalla, West-Oak routed; Seneca loses close game to Wren

In 96.3 WGOG’s High School Football Game of the Week on Friday, the 4th-ranked Belton-Honea Path Bears shut-out the Walhalla Razorbacks 58-0 in Western AAA play.  The Bears proved again why they are one of the best teams in the Palmetto State.  BHP’s signal-caller, Matt Williams, was our Player of the Game.  Williams played until early in the third quarter, finishing the night 10-for-14 with 339 yards and three touchdowns through the air.  Keinan Lewis, the Bears top receiver, finished with 4 catches for 106 yards and two scores.  The other passing score went from Williams to Kijafa Martin.  On the ground, Korey Thompson carried 12 times for 74 yards and a score.  The Bears also saw rushing touchdowns from TC McCullough and Will Boggs.  BHP collected 484 yards of total offense to Walhalla’s 40 yards.

Elsewhere, Emerald spoiled Homecoming at West-Oak, defeating the Warriors 72-7.  Seneca was back and forth with Wren at Bobcat Stadium, scoring a touchdown with 8.2 seconds remaining, to cut the Hurricane lead to one point.  The Bobcats attempted and failed on a 2-point conversion to give Wren the 28-27 win.

WGOG will travel to Powdersville for our Game of the Week next Friday for a Western AAA showdown between Wren and Daniel.  Airtime is 7:00 PM with the pre-game show, kick-off at 7:30 PM.
