High winds bring power outages

By late last night, nearly 800 customers within the multi-county Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative area remained without electric power.  Eighty-two of those customers were in Oconee County.  Among outages reported yesterday to 101.7/WGOG NEWS were the Westminster and Keowee Key areas.  School buses delivering students home encountered downed lines—the result of a rainy and windy afternoon.  Blue Ridge crews were at work at the locations of known outages.  Strong wind gusts were continuing in parts of the service area and could trigger additional outages overnight.  Emergency crews will remain on alert to address any new outages that might develop.
