High winds topple trees and snap limbs statewide

Crews from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) have responded to more than 650 reports of fallen trees and tree limbs since Wednesday afternoon statewide due to high winds. Many SCDOT employees worked through the night Wednesday and continue to respond to calls today, clearing debris from roadways. High winds have also damaged or destroyed more than a half dozen traffic signals. . Debris in roadways and traffic signal problems can be hazardous, and motorists are advised to report them to local law enforcement or the SC Highway Patrol.
