Highway project delays sewer line

A highway project at Tokeena-Crossroads has delayed Oconee County contractors from laying the last pieces of sewer pipe connecting the Golden Corner Commerce Park with the county’s treatment plant at Seneca. A contractor for the state is rebuilding the highway 24-59 intersection and that, according to Oconee County Administrator Scott Moulder, leaves the county’s sewer line contractor unable to finish its job within previously-acquired rights-of-way. It means, according to Moulder, the county is attempting to acquire new right-of-way from as many as five property owners there. It all adds up to a delay, as the county goes about finishing phase one of Sewer South.
