Hiott to be sentenced momentarily
Two o’clock is the appointed time this afternoon in Greenville for the sentencing of a Oconee former banker. Benjamin Lee Hiott’s fate awaits him during a proceeding in the U-S District. The former Community First banker faces legal troubles on a couple of fronts. Besides the bank fraud charges that brought him to the federal criminal court, he’s a defendant in a lawsuit for a woman who says she entrusted $1.1 million to Hiott but lost it in a series of deceptions, which she alleges were Hiott’s responsibility.
