Home damaged but repairable

Lightning struck a three-story home near Salem Saturday afternoon, setting off a fire that damaged two rooms inside a home  in the Cliffs at Keowee South development. Charlie King, Oconee Fire Chief, said the home at 405 Evergreen Trail is repairable. The first set of fire fighters to reach the scene found the home full of smoke. Two occupants made it out safely. Fire fighters from across northern Oconee and Pickens counties worked more than one hour to put a stop to the fire. Two of them required hospital treatment for heat-related injuries. According to King, the cause of the fire is being investigated, although intentional ignition has been ruled out.
