Home development in the works for eastern Oconee

The Seneca utilities director says he will learn more today about plans for an apparent large development of homes in eastern Oconee County in the vicinity of Lake Hartwell.  Bob Faires is meeting with representatives for a project that is said to be targeting property bordered by Hart’s Cove apartments and the lake.  There is no immediate word on the number of home sites, but 101.7/WGOG NEWS has been told by a couple of utility officials that the developers are considering building a tunnel beneath the Norfolk Southern Railroad as a better way to get traffic in and out of the property.  Right now those living in the predominant student-occupied Hart’s Cove apartments must rely on a railroad crossing that, at times, is blocked by stopped trains and railroad repair crews.
