Hot and dry, yet the lakes are up
We’re hearing that word again—-drought. Yet our lakes seem to be full of water. Barbara Wilson of Walhalla can’t explain that, but offered a theory today. The weather observer believes that a lot of rain that falls in Oconee County or in the watershed feeding the man-made lakes misses her official recording station on her farm near the city limit. The 97 recording yesterday was the highest in July. The rain measurement for the month was 3.82”. That means Walhalla is running a deficit of 12 inches of rain at this time of year.
