House fire on the Fish Hatchery Road

Fire late last night displaced a family from their home in a remote part of Oconee County.  But no one was hurt.  The residents, returning home, saw smoke coming from the roof.  194 Fish Hatchery Road off highway 107 is 12 miles from the nearest fire station, but county fire chief Charlie King says Mountain Rest fire fighters arrived quickly and confined the fire to the roof.  King says the fire is considered accidental because of an electrical issue. The home is owned by the SC Department of Natural Resources and is occupied by an employee and their family.
