How to explain it?

Only a few days remain in a year in which Oconee County fatal traffic numbers fell appreciably. From 23 fatalities in 2012, the toll on the highways in 2013 fell to three dead. When asked for an explanation, the county’s coroner could only say, “It’s been a good year.” At 96.3/WGOG NEWS’s request, Coroner Karl Addis took a look at his office records. They show Oconee’s 2013 highway fatalities occurred in April, September, and November. In 2012, there were 23—nearly two a month. At times, law enforcement officers who patrol the highways will say that checkpoints and strict enforcement of the speeding and seat belt laws can make a difference.
