Howard’s Rock defendants await trial

The two North Carolina men arrested a year ago and charged with vandalizing the iconic symbol of Clemson football, Howard’s Rock, a year later have yet to see their cases resolved in a criminal court. But that could soon change. A spokeswoman for the 13th Circuit Solicitor confirms that her office intends to try the cases by the end of the year. The defendants in the cases are Michael J. Rogers of Pisgah Forest and Alden James Garvey of Brevard. The rock was damaged the night of June 2, 2013. Destroyed was the protective casing, and a portion of the rock was chipped.
