HS FOOTBALL: West-Oak drops heartbreaker to Palmetto

In 96.3 WGOG’s High School Football broadcast Friday night, the West-Oak Warriors saw a heartbreaking, 21-20, defeat at the hands of the Palmetto Mustangs. West-Oak Scored the first  14 points on a 2-yard rush from quarterback Joe Hart and a 24-yard run from Landon Owen. Palmetto would not score until the closing seconds of the first half, when Gunner Teachman found the endzone to tighten the game at 14-7. West-Oak would score the only points of the third quarter when Lane Jones ran for a 27-yard touchdown, however the Warriors extra point attempt fell short. The fourth quarter would belong to Palmetto and Shamari Slade. Slade would score on an 80 yard rush early in the quarter and a 15-yard run with 1:22 left to give the Mustangs a 21-20 lead. West-Oak would drive deep into Mustang territory in the closing seconds before a Warrior fumble would seal the win for Palmetto.

Elsewhere Wren defeats Walhalla 54-3 and Seneca falls to Belton-Honea Path 21-17. Next week, WGOG will travel to Tom Bass Field as the Bobcats host West-Oak.
