Idea dropped for community relations council

When it comes to the workplace, Scott Moulder opposes discrimination. But the Oconee County administrator sees no upside to the idea of the county sponsoring a community relations council. A resolution to create such a council was removed from consideration last night, at the request of Councilman Paul Cain. That’s in spite of two requests over the last year from a representative of the state Human Affairs Commission. Reporting on what he has learned about community relations councils, Moulder said community relations councils serve as a venue for discrimination complaints and can cause problems for local employers. According to Moulder, mechanisms are in place to resolve complaints without having to create a council.
