If industry came calling today….

If an industry looking to make a move today called Oconee County and asked about the availability of a building, would the county be able to accommodate? It’s an issue that members of the board of Oconee Economic Alliance batted around Friday during a board meeting in Westminster. Russell Johnson, project manager for the alliance, says there is a finite limit to the number of available buildings whose size ranges from 35 thousand square feet to 137 thousand square feet. Johnson listed three available buildings within that size range: the former BMI building in Westminster, the former Taylor Made golf building in Westminster, and the former Jacobs Chucks building near Clemson. Limited space remains, Johnson says, in Seneca’s building inside the Seneca Commerce Center on the Shiloh Road. Friday’s discussion led to expressions that Oconee County needs to undertake a new spec building to be used as a carrot to attract the industrial rabbit.
