Inabinet pulls out!

Andy Inabinet announced late this morning his withdrawal from this year’s elections to decide the next Oconee County councilman from District Three. He released this statement: “It is with much heartache and sorrow that I announce I am resigning from my campaign for Oconee County Council District 3 seat. Over the past few weeks my wife Mary and I have received some very concerning news about her long standing battle with cancer. After another scan and oncologist visit on Wednesday of this week our concern is heightened even more. Mary is my first priority and I want to spend my time and efforts helping her continue this fight. We appreciate your prayers and support. I also want to thank everyone who has supported me in this campaign. My hope is you will all work together to ‘Keep Oconee Moving Forward.'” Seneca attorney Paul Cain remains the only candidate for Seat Three, but his name is not on the ballot for Tuesday’s special General Election. However, election officials have said that the winner will be the individual who receives the most votes Tuesday. Write-in votes are permitted. Within the last 15 minutes, employees at the Oconee Elections Commission have been on the phone with the state Election Commission to seek a determination about what is to happen now. For now, at least, Inabinet says he’ll remain as an Oconee school board member. That’s a seat that will be voted on during the November General Election.
