Indictment alleges lottery money embezzled

A Richland County grand jury has indicted a 55-year old Columbia man on the charge of embezzling money belonging to the South Carolina Lottery. Attorney General Alan Wilson says the indictment charges that Anthony McNeil, while a lottery financial division employee, embezzled more than $100 thousand between April 2010 and August 2012. The felony offense carries a penalty of a prison term up to 10 years and a fine. The Attorney General’s announcement charges McNeil with a scheme that made computer changes, bank account sweeps, and a re-direction of funds that did not reflect in the lottery’s overall numbers.
