Industry park in line for entranace road

 

A three-party agreement will allow for funding to build an entrance road to 100 acres of property near Seneca that that the county’s economic development recruiter has described as a must before the property’s potential can be realized.  Oconee ‘s 100 acres adjoin Seneca’s part of the industrial park known as the Seneca Rail Park off Shiloh Road adjoining the Utica community.  An engineering assessment determined it will take $710 thousand dollars to build, sign and landscape the road, and last night County Council approved resolutions for an economic development grant among the county, the South Carolina Public Service Authority and the Palmetto Economic Development Corporation.  The Power Team Board of Trustees approved the county’s request for a $355 thousand dollar grant, and County Administrator Scott Moulder said the county is positioned to match the grant thru a variety of funding sources.  Earlier this year Richard Blackwell, county economic dev elopement director, announced the approval of a grant from the “Site Readiness Fund” of the South Carolina Power Team and Santee Cooper.  It’s a grant that requires a 50% match.
