Inevitability: tax season

White stuff forecast to hit the ground and nose-diving temperatures can’t deter the unavoidable: the start of a new tax season. And the South Carolina Department of Revenue announces that the 2014 individual income tax filing season opens Friday. And the DOR will begin to accept electronic or paper individual returns. But the state urges its taxpayers to file their returns electronically, as it not only is beneficial to the taxpayer, but to the state as well as due to the efficiency in processing times. Electronic filers may receive a refund in as little as 10 days, as compared to those who file a paper return, which could take an average of three weeks.
