Interest in two empty Seneca buildings

There is interest in two of Seneca’s empty buildings, according to Mayor Dan Alexander. And the mayor gave his vision for a further re-vitalization of the downtown today during a meeting at the Oconee Chamber of Commerce. He told the meeting that he would like to see two new anchor stores in the downtown to help bring more visitors and spending. That comment generated a suggestion that the city pursue the possibility of building the city’s new library downtown where it could be eligible for tax credits from the federal government. Alexander also applauded the success of the Hampton Inn and Suites for the positive effect it has made on the east end of the city, on E. N. 1st Street near U-S 123.
