Oconee Sheriff’s Office has in hand a $1 thousand grant from an insurance company to be used for the elementary school drug prevention program. Sheriff Mike Crenshaw received a letter from State Farm last week, notifying his office that it had been awarded the grant after submitting an application. The $1 thousand check was enclosed with the letter. The money will be used to buy drug education materials that will be given to children to warn them of the dangers of drug abuse. That’s part of the role of Corp. Charles Mulwee. He works with many at-risk children in elementary schools. Crenshaw said, “Our vision statement is building partnerships to promote a safer community and one of our great partnerships has been with State Farm.”
