It’s a sledding day!

Kids with their sleds, accompanied by adults who are young at heart, have returned today to one of Walhalla’s highest hills–to try their luck at sledding.  On the grounds of the Depot at Kaufman Square, they appear to be using all sorts of devices that will allow them to sit and go for a ride, courtesy of what nature gave us during the night.  And Sheriff Mike Crenshaw made this comnment this morning, “It appears that Oconee County is in pretty good shape after the latest round of snow.  While some areas did not receive as much snow as forecast, some areas in the northern part of the county did receive as much as 8 to 10 inches of snow.”  Still the Sheriff’s Office advises to travel only if necessary.  Main roads have thawed and many have been scraped, but there remains slush on the secondaries.  Tonight could get dicey.  Temps are forecast to drop below freezing, which means what’s left on the roads will re-freeze.
