“I’ve kept my mouth shut”

After December, one of the state superintendent of education’s critics will lose her direct voice. It’s Seneca resident Dr. Lyn Norton. Her term on the state board expires. Nevertheless, there Norton was this week when Dr. Mick Zais made his first visit to Oconee public schools in an official capacity. After watching Zais tour the Tamassee-Salem Elementary, Norton said the superintendent was impressed, but added he should have been as the school, in Norton’s opinion, because “it’s a great school.” So far as her differences with Zais over vouchers, Norton said, “I have kept my mouth shut.”
