Jeff Chee is Oconee’s ambassador for economic development

A ceremony at the Governor’s Mansion Complex honored this year’s Ambassadors for Economic Development.  There’s one for every county, and Oconee’s is Jeff Chee of Greenfield Industries.  “In South Carolina, growing our state’s economy and creating jobs truly is a team effort, and the individuals recognized as ambassadors at last week’s ceremony are proof of that. These local business leaders from all corners of our state are what really make South Carolina such a special place to live, work and play,” said. Gov. Nikki Haley.   Richard Blackwell of the Oconee Economic Alliance explains why Chee received this year’s award:  “Chee chose to have his firm, TDC Cutting Tools, Inc., establish its overseas headquarters in Oconee County at the same site as its subsidiary, Greenfield Industries, resulting in an additional 38 new positions in Seneca. The company, which is based in China, invested $8.2 million in the construction of the new TDC Overseas campus, including a 32,000-square-foot office building and a 10,000-square-foot recycling center added to the existing 168,000-square-foot facility.”
