On the heels of an increase in the Oconee jobless rate, plans are in now in place for an area job fair and training expo. It’ll be held August 13 at the Industrial and Business Development Center at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton. From 9 a-m to noon that Tuesday morning, those seeking work are invited to register with companies that have jobs to offer and with others that are not now hiring. The event will feature the following career clusters: advanced manufacturing, truck driving, healthcare, heavy equipment operation and highway construction, and computer fields. If they do not have resumes, participants will be asked to complete a registration form and an employment application. They then will be directed to rooms for a brief presentation on the logistics of the expo and information about training options.
