Jobless rates fall again!

January 28, 2014

The unemployment rate for Oconee County in December fell again. And the state closed 2013 with a significant drop in its seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate to 6.6%. And it prompts Cheryl Stanton, director of South Carolina Employment and Workforce, to call today “an exciting and great day because the last time South Carolina’s unemployment rate fell below the national average was January 2001. Six-point-six percent is also Oconee County’s December rate. That’s down nearly one-half of a percentage point from November and nearly two-and-a-half percentage points from December 2012.
