Jorge Mario Bergoglio elected Pope

The world’s largest Christian church elected a new leader on Wednesday. Seventy-six year-old Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, the Archbishop of Buenos Aires, was elected Pope by the Conclave of Cardinals meeting at the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Bergoglio takes the name Francis I. He relpaces Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned the position in February.
