JRSA to hold permit, despite no immediate use

Scott Moulder and Bob Winchester have talked, and both agree there’s a need to hold onto a state permit—for which there is no immediate need. Winchester, executive director for the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority, announced at last night’s commissioners meeting that $800 dollars is being paid to DHEC to renew the land application treated wastewater permit. That permit was obtained three years ago, at a time when land application spray was being considered to treat sewage generated by the county’s Golden Corner Commerce Park. Oconee County has since settled on a forced main line between GCCP and the county treatment plant at Seneca. “The current, open DHEC permit we’re going to renew is for a treated and spray application which is what they call a land application,” Scott Moulder, Oconee County administrator told 96.3/WGOG NEWS. The permit, Moulder says, can be modified for a future use. “We feel it’s important for us to keep that permit open because it is a transferable and modifiable permit…,” Molder said.
