Judge: “Evidence was compelling”

An Oconee jury returned quick verdicts this afternoon against a young man arrested in a drug store burglary near Seneca. The verdicts were guilty to the charges of burglary second degree and theft of a controlled substance. And the judge’s sentence sends Josh Toney to prison for 18 months. Toney is 32 years old. The crimes occurred in May 2011 at the Drive-Thru Pharmacy of America on the Wells Highway. The drug store no longer operates today. Judge Robin Stillwell said he rarely comments on jury verdicts. In this case, however, Stillwell called the evidence compelling. And David Wagner, the deputy solicitor, gave 96.3/WGOG NEWS his view of why he thinks the jury had little trouble with their decision.
