Jury acquits

A jury in the Oconee General Sessions Court has acquitted a 32-year old man arrested and charged with assaulting police officers while resisting arrest. The not guilty verdicts were returned yesterday in the state’s case against Christopher Eric Gaines. The defendant’s lawyer, Deputy Public Defender Danny Day, said the account Gaines gave the jury was instrumental in his client’s acquittal. A dispute arose between Gaines and his parents at their Seneca home over whether the son should be given car keys.
