Keep schools and communities gun-safe

Students at two Oconee elementary schools have joined thousands of students across the state to sign pledges to keep their schools and communities safe as participants in the SC 12th Annual Student Pledge Against Gun Violence. The students at Fair-Oak and Tamassee-Salem elementary schools made a commitment that pledges them that if they see a gun they will not touch it, they will assume that any gun they see might be loaded, and they will tell a teacher or a trusted adult. The effort is part of South Carolina’s Project CeaseFire which is South Carolina’s implementation of the Justice Department’s Project Safe Neighborhoods program. It’s a program to reduce gun violence.
