Keowee Fire Department marks its 20th year

A breakfast, a cake, and a dinner helped mark the 20th year of the Keowee Fire Department’s service to Keowee Key and other lake communities. The department, which relies on a combination of paid and volunteer fire fighters, was the first in Oconee County to benefit from a tax district and remains the only one of its type today. Richie Caudle, the current chief, says things are going well. Among those taking part in the 20th year events were some of the original fire fighters, including Ed Goff, the first chief.
